Once you have all the parts you need to fit a combi-heating system in a recreational vehicle, you’re ready to embark on the installation.
It can be helpful to break the process down into distinct stages. Key steps include:
1. Installing the fuel line
Run your fuel line directly from the diesel tank or gas bottle to the location of your boiler. For diesel systems, leave at least 20mm of clearance at the bottom of the tank to prevent it from being fully drained.
2. Attaching the boiler
Firmly affix the boiler to the floor of the vehicle using screws on each corner, ensuring it’s held steadily in place.
3. Measuring and positioning the flue pipe.
Measure your flue pipe to ensure a minimum length of 600mm before it touches the vehicle wall. Flue piping is available in various lengths and can be cut down to size.
4. Introducing the water supply
Attach the pipes to introduce the cold water feed to the boiler, being sure to insert the frost control valve and non-return valve.
5. Connecting the power and hardwired parts
Attach your power supply and the cables required for the control panel and room thermostat temperature sensor.
6. Positioning the room thermostat and control panel
Place the room thermostat in the habitation area and the control panel in a convenient location, such as a door fascia.
7. Cutting an exhaust hole
Cut an exhaust hole in the vehicle wall for the release of gases via the flue pipe, taking care to ensure it’s not directly below a window.
